WPD Documentation: Features, Requirements, and Recovery
WPD is a portable Windows utility that combines privacy-related controls, connection-blocking rules, and app management. Start by identifying the exact package and the Windows build you plan to configure.
Choose a documentation section
- Command-line reference and safe examples
- Firewall filtering: modes and recovery boundaries
- Frequently asked questions
- Primary references and practical worksheets
Before you change a setting
- Check the WPD archive version and SHA-256 on the download page. A matching hash does not prove software safety.
- Record your Windows edition, build, and processor type. Do not assume every historical switch applies to a newer build.
- Back up important files and record each setting you intend to change. Work-managed policies require administrator approval.
- Make one change, verify the affected feature, and retain a rollback path.
Requirements and compatibility
The supplied README describes version 1.5.2042. The WPD project documentation lists .NET Framework 4.5 or later, but this website has not validated the executable on every Windows version. Missing prerequisites and OS warnings must be investigated, not suppressed. See Windows 11 compatibility and Windows 10 support boundaries.
